First Ballet with Melody Bear combines an introduction to Ballet with creative dance and movement for children aged 2 to 5.

In addition to an introduction to basic ballet steps, the syllabus further explores dance and movement using the natural actions of the body such as walking, running, jumping, skipping, hopping and galloping. It is designed to aid children's physical development, co-ordination, concentration, creativity and self-expression in a dance format.

In addition to learning a movement vocabulary, spatial and self-awareness are also developed. Children learn to dance as individuals moving within the confines of their own space and body development, and learn the skills of dancing with a partner or in a group.

The students learn the importance of team work and co-dependence, a discipline they learn to understand through their experiences in class.

It is also a valuable introduction for young children to the principles of theatre craft.
