Alice Burney
Singing Teacher
Alice began singing at the age of 10 when she joined Class Act Youth Theatre in Manchester, her teacher there discovered she could sing, and Alice took private lessons to get the most out of her voice and training. She performed in numerous shows with Class Act including The Wiz, Sister Act and Fame as an amateur performer, where she took on lead roles from an early age.
Alice then went on to study a two year Musical Theatre course at Manchester City College, where she played 'Sandy' in 'Grease' for her final performance, and passed with a Triple Distinction. During her time there, Alice performed professionally as a 'Showgirl' for the 'Ken Dodd Happiness Show' at The Floral Pavilion in New Brighton. She also sang as a soloist at 'Freedom Of The City' show in Liverpool's Town Hall. Alice then went on to perform a one night only performance as 'Featured Singer' in 'Best Of Broadway' at The Palace Theatre in Manchester.
After graduation, Alice won a Dance & Drama Award at Liverpool Theatre School, and trained there for 3 years. Whilst in her 3rd year, she played 'Quince' in Shakespeare's 'Midsummer Night's Dream', and 'Various Roles' in 'The Laramie Project'. Her final performance was 'The Witch' in Sondheim's 'Into The Woods', and graduated in 2010 with a National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre - Level 6 (Trinity).
Alice's first professional job was filming a corporate video for Network Rail by Pretzel Films.
After a long, but successful audition process with Headliner's Theatre Company, Alice landed a job as Lead Singer onboard P&O's Arcadia cruise ship. Since then, she has sang her way around the world on 4 different contracts. Whist onboard her last ship Aurora, Alice had the wonderful opportunity of backing Michael Ball onstage, and was very lucky to work with a fantastic Musical Director Callum McLeod.
She ended her stint of cruise ships on a high, with a world cruise in April 2014.
Alice started teaching as soon as she was back on dry land. She really enjoys seeing the progression in her students, and gets a buzz out of a talented voice.
